Partial Product Design, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
As the market for home camera products grows and becomes more competitive with harder-to-distinguish product offerings, companies need to innovate in new and meaningful ways to stay relevant and differentiate. At the time of development, most of the connected cameras served as ‘Security Cameras’. With shift in demographic from a male dominated purchase choice to one that was more inclusive and balanced, Kiba was positioned as an automated capture of the most interesting moments at home and away.
Our primary goal was to take the predefined house style, miniaturize it, work with technology partners to achieve the proportions, and plan the manufacturing engineering such that the design style is uncompromised. The product needed to be as beautiful as the footage it would record.
The design houses a camera with a field of view of 94 degrees that can be set up at any corner of the house, or even on a car dashboard. Kiba’s Joy Ranking algorithm focuses on the level of movement and noise (to deduct excitement) and filters out these moments alone within the device itself and sends them to your app. It erases mundane everyday activities and records 5 major events in each day and sends them to you, so that you will always be able to relive your best moments.
