How It Works

This is a sample plan for the redesign of the UI update for a small 4-wheeler cluster

WEEK 1

UI Specification and Control Mapping
Based on legacy and predicates. Capture control types – switch, touch, touch redundant – for each UI element

WEEK 2

UX Workflow and Design
Map planned unique UX Workflows in new information architecture. Map words to inspire UX + UI design styles for selected feature categories

WEEK 3-4

Core Information and Display
Driving Information: speed, distance, motor performance, battery status, and safety alerts, gear and regen modes.

Design Language: Establish distinct UI styles. Maintain visual consistency. Clear fonts, effective progress bars, intuitive warning indicators. Subtle transitions over distracting animations.

WEEK 5-6

Navigation & Connectivity
Integrate turn-by-turn navigation, phone functionality (calls, notifications, music), and charging station information. Clear display formats for navigation and minimal interruptions for calls and music. Voice control options. Navigation controls grouped for easy access.

WEEK 7

Vehicle Management and Diagnostics
Battery and motor temperature, tell-tale lamps, and vehicle diagnostics. Design access for vehicle information and documentation.

Design Considerations: Isolate vehicle diagnostics to a parked-only menu. Clear fonts for diagnostic information. Warning indicators arranged based on severity.

WEEK 8-9

User Interface, Controls, and Preferences
Three driving modes and four standard vehicle modes. Language and theme customization, brightness control.

Phygital controls for core functions. Menu for theme and brightness adjustments. Subtle animations for non-critical elements, avoiding distractions.

WEEK 10

Refinement
Test Mock-Ups with End User cohorts. Handover to software development teams.
