Workhorse Reduces EV Van Prices by $60,000, Secures 100-Unit Order from Purolator

Workhorse slashes prices by $60,000 and Purolator buys 100

Electric fleet truck brand Workhorse has announced a significant price reduction on its W56 electric step vans, cutting $59,000 from its 178″ Standard Wheelbase and $61,000 from its 208″ Extended Wheelbase models through September. This move has prompted Ohio-based Purolator to place an order for 100 of the zero-emission box trucks.

Details

The price reduction comes amidst soaring gas and diesel prices, offering a more affordable option for commercial fleet operators looking to electrify. Workhorse’s 140 kWh version of its medium-duty electric work truck was announced last month, and now the company is extending the affordability to its 210 kWh versions. Purolator, a delivery and logistics firm, has committed to 100 units, marking their fourth order over the years and continuing their partnership with Workhorse.

Company background

Workhorse, an electric fleet truck brand, is known for its medium-duty electric work trucks. Founded with the aim to provide more sustainable and efficient transportation solutions, the company is based in Ohio and has been making strides in the electric vehicle sector.

Market context

This price reduction and subsequent order could not have come at a better time, as global oil markets are facing a shortage due to recent geopolitical events, leading to a surge in fuel prices. Workhorse’s move positions electric trucks as a buffer against such volatility, emphasizing the long-term cost benefits of electric vehicles over traditional gasoline and diesel-powered ones.
