Defence tech startup Armory has received a ₹100 Cr ($10.5 Mn) order from the Indian defence ministry for its AI-powered counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS), SURGE. The company will produce and deploy these systems for Indian forces.

The SURGE system utilizes Armory’s proprietary ‘Samaritan OS’ to detect, track, and neutralize rogue drones. It employs AI to scan environments millions of times per second and learns new radio frequency (RF) signatures to update its threat library. Armory plans to scale its manufacturing capacity, invest in hiring, and strengthen its R&D center in Manesar with this order.
Company Background
Founded in 2024 by Amardeep Singh, Armory has developed an AI-enabled C-UAS designed to detect and destroy rogue drones. The startup has raised ₹35 Cr in equity since its inception, with backers including growX, Antler, Industrial47, Dexter Ventures, AC Ventures, 8x Ventures, and Galiakotwala Engineering.

This significant order highlights the growing demand for advanced defence technologies in India. It also underscores the increasing focus on indigenous defence tech startups, supported by a 15.2% YoY increase in India’s defence budget to ₹7.85 Lakh Cr in FY27. Armory’s achievement is notable, as it is one of the youngest defence tech startups to secure such a large-scale defence contract in a short period.
