Company Background

Founded in 2022 by Oxford researcher Walter Goodwin, Fractile is developing AI chips for inference, the process of running an AI model. The company has been repeatedly namechecked by UK government officials and is rumored to be eyeing a deal with US AI giant Anthropic. Fractile’s target market is data center builders and AI companies.

Market Context

Fractile’s funding round is significant in the context of the AI chip industry, which is currently dominated by Nvidia. The company’s ambitious goal of delivering faster, more cost-effective chips could disrupt the market if achieved. This funding round highlights the growing interest in AI chip technology and the potential for new players to challenge established industry leaders.
