Just two years after the launch of the iPad, the market was flooded with low cost 7” Android tablets. However, they failed to hit the mark and provided subpar quality. They had wrong display orientation, bad speakers that produced tinny and shrill sounds, and were too large to hold and carry around. We worked with Innominds Software, a Qualcomm Licensee to solve these problems.
Unprecedented Design and Portability
As it was a relatively new brand, the Ari Android tablet had to be designed with stock/Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) parts. We, at Bang Design, used the constraints to create a design that’s compact and feels as natural as holding the phablet/tabphone. The design entails an exposed chassis in a double bell profile that blends into the back cover. As a result, the Ari tablet snugly rests in your hands in both portrait and landscape modes.
Going a step further, we coated the exposed Ari tablet chassis with several layers of paint. This treatment ensured that even the slightest change in angle created a reflection that accentuated the graceful design. The rear shell of the tablet was coated with bright rubberized paints. This helped reduce the risk of the device slipping from the hands of the users, which is a common occurrence in India.
In order to create a design where the rear surface blends to the side and front of the tablet, we put in unprecedented efforts in design, engineering and manufacturing. We sculpted and engineered the product using Creo from PTC. Creo allowed seamless transition between design and engineering. It enabled the tablet to house a large battery that would last through more than a day of use. That’s not where the benefits end; we were able to incorporate a large and loudspeaker in the slim tablet, for a seamless and smooth listening experience.
The ARI Android Tablet is a power-packed device with graceful looks and ultimate portability!
