THE CHALLENGE
Building Coherence Under Extreme Timelines
APPROACH
One Design Language, Many Devices
We developed a visual design language that balanced technical constraints with brand identity. Clean surfaces, deliberate curvature transitions, and controlled color blocking created visual continuity across smartphones, flip phones, and hotspots.
Our role extended beyond industrial design — we represented the brand during key design reviews with carrier teams, helping communicate the rationale behind form, finish, and feature integration. At the same time, we collaborated closely with ODM engineering teams in Asia, translating design intent into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions.
WHAT WE LEARNED
Clarity, Speed, and Design Tradeoffs
Compressed design cycles demand instant clarity in a absence of a brief, followed by disciplined iteration.
Integration across disciplines — antenna engineers, layout specialists, and tooling vendors — often with conflicting requirements.
Design pragmatism — understanding where to hold aesthetic lines and where to yield for program speed, product performance constraints or manufacturability.
THE RESULT
A Unified, Market-Ready Ecosystem
Over three years, we helped Orbic build a complete connected ecosystem — phones, hotspots, and companion devices — that reflected a single cohesive identity. The portfolio successfully positioned Orbic as a credible OEM alternative in the North American market, blending affordability with modern design cues.
