Frore Systems raises $143M Series D at $1.64B valuation

Semiconductor cooling developer secures new capital

Frore Systems, a company that develops cooling systems for semiconductors, announced on March 16, 2026, that it has closed a $143 million Series D funding round. The investment was led by MVP Ventures and brings the company’s post-money valuation to $1.64 billion.

Funding round details

This latest round of funding elevates Frore Systems’ total capital raised to $340 million since its inception. The Series D saw participation from a group of new and existing investors. Alongside lead investor MVP Ventures, participants included Fidelity, Mayfield, Addition, Qualcomm Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.

The capital injection is intended to help the company scale its operations and expand its manufacturing capabilities to meet demand for its cooling products. The company has not disclosed specific terms of the deal beyond the total amount and the new valuation. The funding follows a period of product development focused on thermal solutions for high-performance processors used in artificial intelligence applications.

Company background and technology pivot

Frore Systems was founded eight years ago by two former Qualcomm engineers. The company does not fabricate semiconductors. Instead, it manufactures active cooling systems designed to dissipate heat from processors and other electronic components. The company’s initial technology was developed to provide air-cooling solutions for small, fanless consumer electronics such as smartphones and tablets.

According to a Bloomberg report, the company altered its product strategy approximately two years ago following a technology demonstration for Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Huang reportedly suggested the company adapt its technology to develop liquid-cooling options specifically for AI chips and systems, which generate significant thermal loads. In response, Frore Systems developed and released products compatible with various Nvidia chips and circuit boards. The company has since expanded its product line to include cooling solutions for processors made by Qualcomm and AMD.

Market context for AI chip investment

The funding for Frore Systems occurs amid a period of high investment activity within the AI semiconductor sector. Several companies in the space have recently secured large funding rounds and high valuations. In February 2026, Nvidia competitor Positron achieved a $1 billion valuation. That same month, another startup, Recursive Intelligence, secured a $4 billion valuation upon its public launch. More recently, Eridu, a company developing AI networking chips, emerged from stealth mode in early March 2026 with a $200 million Series A round, though it did not disclose its valuation.

These investments target various parts of the AI hardware ecosystem, from the core processing units to the networking and thermal management components required to operate them efficiently. The capital flowing into companies like Frore Systems addresses the infrastructure needed to support increasingly powerful and heat-intensive AI computations.
