Helitak Firefighting Equipment, a manufacturer of advanced aerial firefighting systems, has announced the expansion of its global production facilities with a new plant in Camarillo, California. The facility, previously a service center and parts distribution hub, will begin production of the Sikorsky UH-60 Fire Tank (model number FT4500) this spring, mirroring the company’s flagship manufacturing facility in Queensland, Australia.
Details:
The new Camarillo operation will enable Helitak to better support customers across the U.S., Canada, and other countries in the western hemisphere. By bringing production to the U.S., Helitak can reduce international shipping timelines, lower logistical costs, and provide faster delivery of mission-critical equipment to firefighting operators. The facility will also serve as a centralized hub for installations, technical support, factory-authorized repairs and overhauls, and parts for both Helitak tanks and buckets. It includes a full machine shop, fabrication stations, a paint booth, and dedicated servicing stations.
Company Context:
Helitak Firefighting Equipment, founded over five years ago, has grown from 12 to more than 60 staff worldwide. The company specializes in the production of advanced aerial firefighting systems, including the widely adopted FT4500 system. Helitak’s products are in high demand among commercial firefighting operators and are now attracting interest from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well.
Industry Context:
This acquisition matters in the sector as it demonstrates Helitak’s commitment to excellence and support for its valued North American operators. The expansion into manufacturing in North America will allow the company to provide direct, factory-level support where and when it’s needed most, especially as wildfire seasons grow longer and more severe. Helitak’s solutions are also attracting strong interest in Europe, where recognition of the value of aerial firefighting continues to grow.
