Bengaluru-based startup MicrobioTx has launched an AI-powered Gut Function Test that uses a finger-prick blood sample to profile an individual’s gut microbiome and generate personalized health insights, nutrition, and probiotic recommendations.
Key features of the test include the analysis of metabolites—chemical compounds released by gut microbes that circulate in the bloodstream—instead of directly measuring microbes. The platform uses a patented AI and machine learning model developed through research collaborations with institutions such as AIIMS and NISER to trace metabolite signatures back to predict microbial patterns.
MicrobioTx was founded by Akanksha Gupta along with microbiome researcher Dr. Palok Aich. The startup aims to address the gap between scientific research and practical adoption of gut microbiome tests, which traditionally rely on stool samples that many people find inconvenient, expensive, and time-consuming.
The launch of MicrobioTx’s AI-powered Gut Function Test is significant in the growing field of personalized health and nutrition. As consumers increasingly seek tailored health solutions, the test offers a convenient and accessible way to gain insights into gut health and make informed decisions about nutrition and probiotics.
