Port of Los Angeles Deploys Electric Terminal Trucks to Reduce Dwell Times

Port of LA’s Electric Terminal Trucks

APM Terminals at the Port of Los Angeles has announced the addition of twenty new Orange EV yard dogs to their fleet, significantly reducing truck idle times by almost 85%. This move has slashed dwell times from an average of 90 minutes to just 35, enhancing port efficiency.

Details

The new electric terminal trucks join 36 electric cars and trucks, 3 electric straddle carriers, 9 HD electric forklifts and telehandlers, and 22 electric terminal tractors, all powered by 51 EV charging stations. The pier’s operations have become more efficient with the addition of green lanes for ZEVs, tighter gate operations, and improved rail and yard coordination.
